In ‘In Dubious Battle’, written by John Steinbeck on Labour, Class, Strike etc., I read a sentence as I remember it was like ‘There are as many San Franciscos as there are people who love it.’ -Probably I misremember but not important-.

When I first read it, it was quite understandable. But today, for some reason, I think the idea expressed in that sentence is incomplete.

The imcomplete part is ‘…as there are people who love it.’ The following should be added after it: as there are people who hate it, envy it, long for it etc. so as there are entities that interact with it.

In my opinion, identity is not only related to entity to which it belongs. Identity is mostly related to outer sphere

So if there were nothing existing outside of us probably we wouldnt need any Identity.

When I consider this way of thinking I can easily say that our İdentities actualy are the ways others to describe us

Our whole struggle is just related to our decisiveness about how others describe and identify us

Everyone describes everything based on their own subjectivity. So we could be a hero, silly, evil, devious, heretic, beloved, hated… at the same time.

Everything and everyone around us paints us from their perspectives. Yes it’s important actually who we are, as well. But at some point the way we are described is not related to us. And because of this, sometimes no matter who we are; what matter is how we are described.

So, there are as many San Franciscos as there are people who love it.
